Writing Your Vision |
|
| If you want to create a successful business, start by crafting your vision statement. It’s Step 1 in
the success process. You have to know where you’re going in order to get there! Your vision is your destination, it’s
where you want to be. |
| Your vision statement represents your hopes and dreams for your business, it’s a statement of the
success you want to create. It’s the starting point for all your planning and goal setting because it tells you where you
want to go. |
| Your vision statement is the core of your inspiration and motivation, it will energize you and help remind
you of what you are trying to build. |
| The vision statement serves another important purpose. It helps you decide how to spend your time and money.
Suppose an opportunity comes up and you’re wondering whether to get involved in it. To make the decision, check the opportunity
against your vision. Does it fit where you want to go? If it does, then full steam ahead with it. If it doesn’t clearly fit
where you’re going, you may want to rethink committing time and money to something that is not going to help you realize your
dreams. |
| Here’s a visioning exercise that will help you define your vision. Your vision is for you so let your
imagination roam and write down whatever comes up. Remember to think BIG and to capture your passions. |
Imagine it’s 3 years from now. A local business
magazine/newspaper is going to do
a feature article on your business.
What will the article say? |
| There are no right or wrong answers in writing your vision. It’s all about what’s in your heart
and who you are. |
